Love Always Trusts

1 Corinthians 13:7 - Love puts up with anything, trusts God

always, always looks for the best, never looks back,

but keeps going to the end.

We have heard it, read it, studied it, memorized it and even spent time meditating on it. But if you are like me, my faults and short fallings blind me and I walk away wondering; “Why I can’t seem to love others the way God loves me? Is there something wrong with me? Is there some magic formula I don’t know about?”

. . . Because God loves us so much - John 3: 16

The true meaning of love has been corrupted by the world and is understood as infatuation – that elated, "high" feeling we get when we "fall in love" with someone. This kind of "love" only lasts typically less than a year, and unless transformed into true love it will eventually result in a broken relationship. But the type of love God has to offer doesn’t have any room for failure.

. . . let God transform your mind – Romans 12: 2

Love affects our feelings and the decisions we make; the good ones and the bad ones. However, when we think about love in a Biblical perspective, it’s pretty clear that what God expects is for us to renew our minds on how we think about love. What we need to do is rethink the way we act out our love for others. And what if the source of our love comes from someone more powerful than our decisions or feelings? Instead of seeing love as something that is rooted in a feeling or a decision, maybe we should view love as something else. Would you like to know what?

. . . that someone lays down his life for his friends - John 15: 13
